I am on my second eeePC. My wife dropped my first one, a first generation 7 inch, and smashed the screen. Aside from that it works. My new one, a 9 inch, started to make noises just as the warranty expired. Go figure. I could not localise it, but think it was the fan. Anyway, it seems to have given up the ghost, almost completely. The HD works fine, so I can only guess that it was the fan as it has no other moving parts. My question is this, can I pull the fan out of the 7 inch and put it into my 9 inch, which has the same processor, Atom? If so, is it hard and what is the best way to go about this? What are the dangers of running it without the fan working in the meantime? I think that I know hat the answer will be, but it something that I use daily and will miss it. :(
