OK.  Easy to add searching by application type.

Yep.  I think this is a more important goal to the applist
than anything else.  Most LUGs probably have people who
know what different apps are avaialable for different tasks,
so it's not super usefull to them.  What I plan to do is
write a script that will generate a printer-friendly html version
of the list. Actually, PHP has lib-pdf support built in, so if
I feel adventerous enough, I'll have it generate a pdf file 
for people to download and store.  That would be slick.

That's how LUGs are currently handled, and I plan the same for the 
app database.
