That problem still remains. But I spoof my laptop's mac id and can get
online. You just have to remember to switch off the modem, unplug the lan
cable from desktop, plug it into the laptop and switch on the modem.

I was talking about reliance netconnect broadband. It's a usb thingy that
you plug in to get online.
