You obviously don't know me. The company I run, and the people working for me, manage over a hundred Red Hat, CentOS, and Debian Linux servers. I'm a Linux advocate and I'm an open source advocate and contributor. I've been running Linux exclusively on the desktop since Mandriva 2005, and non exclusively for about three years previous to that. This past fall I bought a linux laptop. I know I could run a new version of Mandriva, but I thought it was time for me to move to Ubuntu. My problem is that I need what I need, and I don't want to take hours to learn something that other people have already figured out how to do. > I've always looked at linux > as an OS that is fun to explore and learn new things about and fun to > figure out how to make things work, but you keep trying to find > things you DON'T like about it and even though people offer their > help and suggestions, I look at Linux as a superior OS with a great support base. I contribute to Linux both by supporting and contributing to Open Source projects that run under Linux, and financially (I've paid for my previous Mandriva support and installations, and before that, for many Mandrake and Red Hat releases.) We're even moving into paying to become a Red Hat Webhosting partner. (Did you know it costs more to use Red Hat Linux for webhosting than Windows? While both are charged to webhosting companies per processor per month, Red Hat's license is more expensive than Microsoft Hosting edition.) > you find a slightest and most insignificant > thing wrong with their help/suggestion and it seems like a big deal > to you. Perhaps you think it's insignificant that the solutions offered don't give me what I need to run my business, but I don't. Jeff -- Jeff Lasman, Nobaloney Internet Services P.O.
