I do not understand in what way this is a burden to you above and beyond
any other reasonable action Compuserve could take. They forwarded the
message to the correct address and let you know what that correct address
is. I find that a lot more useful than, for example, telephoning a
friend's old phone number and being told by the current occupant "Sorry,
you have a wrong number" without any information about the correct phone
number. I would prefer that to giving Compuserve the permission to modify
my subscriber list any day. Do you prefer Compuserve to have implicit
permission to update your list member's address?
Perhaps you'd like to suggest to the author of your list management
software a feature that automatically parses such messages from ISPs to
update the subscription address of users whose ISPs reply with such error
messages.
