Not exactly my LOB, but from what I know the SSDS will have a lot of web services (which may include bdc-complian functions) and at the end of the day has data stored in SQL (although the ideal would be that BDC doesn't go directly to the data). I did not install the beta or experimented with it, so I can't say how difficult it would be to build an application config to connect the two.
