Well stated but let me add a few things.

We have wasted enough bandwidth on this so let's talk about the rules.
If it's not boat related or something that will benefit the users of
this group then please refrain from posting it to the list.

If people can not police themselves then I will be forced to set those
people to be moderated and I will have to approve their posts before
they go to the list. This includes people who respond to messages that
they don't "approve of" by berating the poster. A simple "Please don't
post those kinds of things to the list" is enough and only one or two
people need to make that statement. Then follow that up with an email
to me with the "offending" message attached, so I can be sure to review
the post and decide on the action to take on the poster incase I didn't
happen to read the original message.

Members who prove that they are unable to control themselves even after
being set to moderated posts will be removed from the list as the
overall good of the list is the most important thing.

I hate to have to be this way but that is the only way we will be able
to keep this a friendly list. Also keep in mind that we have members
from all over the world so what may not be offensive to you may be
offensive to someone else.

There are plenty of places that one can give their opinion of political
items and other such topics, but if you can't find a place I will be
happy to start another list for those who want to have a free for all
conversation. Since I am a Ham operator I see these lists a lot like
having a conversation on the radio. Messages should be of technical or
personal nature and not political, offensive, or anything that you
wouldn't say to someone's face.

So as far as I am concerned this thread is over. No more need to waste
time over it. Everyone now knows the rules if they didn't before and I
will post a web page with the rules with a link from the postings to
that page so no one has any excuses as to why they don't follow the
rules. If there are any suggestions on other rules to consider please
let me know and we will determine amongst the group if they are rules
that the majority agrees with.

Thanks,

Vern

IMHO

This list is for and about boats and the tricks of the trade we all
learn. Ours is a unique database and one that does not have room for
political statements.

As a member of this list for many years I'd like to implore other
members to refrain from posting ANYTHING that has to do with ANYTHING
other than boats and those tricks of the trade.

we've got enough problems with the recent move to this .org platform and
I'm assuming we've lost quite a few members because of the move.
Hopefully they will return.

So again I implore you to simply leave your flag at home when you log in
here.
