My engine room has a hatch right above the engine, so it was an easy matter to
place a board on either side of the hatch, a cross piece, make a rope loop
supported by the cross piece, and a chain fitted to lifting brackerts on the
engine. A broom handle cut to size through the loop, twisted in the manner of a
tourniquet (we call it a Spanish windlass but that is not the correct name). It
is amazing how high such a simple process was able to lift the engine.

Of course, on my stupid boat I have a 'V' drive on my Yanmars, so we had to
drop the rudders out of the quadrants to be able to pull the prop shaft back
far enough to clear the 'V' drive. So the job required two spanners, a length
of rope, a broom handle, 3 heavy boards and a SCUBA diver

-0800Subject: [Liveaboard] Changing motor mounts

I just found out that my motormounts seem to be shot, there is a wobble in the
shaft and one of the mounts is bulging. Any good ideas of how to change them
without taking out the engine. They are Volvo md17c mounts Thanks all
