I thought  that we had more or less agreed that it depends upon the design 
of the particular laptop. Which of the myriad Inspirons do you own? Which 
CPU do you have? If you have a P4 CPU, it uses allot of juice. If you have a 
Celeron or a CPU with an "M" suffix, it draws less juice. You can go to the 
Lind website and learn about your power requirements. Of course, Dell may 
have an auto adapter as well.
