You might also provide an affidavit regarding the specifics of your sale of
the vessel, and stating "to the best of your knowledge" the boat's history.
You would include copies of any supporting documents.

Of course, the real problem is going to be on the other end - who knows what
documents will or won't be acceptable in Turkey, or how much evidence is
enough?!

Decent of you to try to help him out so long after the fact, when many would
just say he's on his own now.
