I was out at the boat yesterday and took a long hard look at the compression 
post and it looks like, unless Alachua can tell me otherwise, that I'm 
raising and lowering the table by "hand" without the help of the internal 
halyard.  There's some sort of removable plate towards the top of the post 
where the line exits the post over a sheeve.  That plate is secured by 6 
large stainless screws and 'hopefully' I'll be able to remove them and pull 
the pulley assembly out to see what's what.

Removing the compression post is a non-issue since, from what both the yard 
manager and I can tell, I'd have to remove the mast step also and we're 
talking a hell of a lot a work just to replace one non-critical line.

I'm calling Hunter tomorrow and will post their response....
