I have to agree. Mine isn't on the boat but at my house. I got mine from
Home Depot for around $350 and it works very well. It's one of the new
versions which don't have to be drained. Yes the hose gets hot, but not
that hot. I would suggest if you are going to install it on the boat that
you get some of the R-Max foam insulation and build a little box out of it
to wrap the hose in, then get the hose run/R-Max box as short as possible to
the outside.

Subject: [Liveaboard] Now - Experience with the indoor portable A/C

It works very well. The way to avoid the hot air referred to by one
correspondent is to ensure that the exhaust hose goes directly outside and
that the port that you use should be stuffed with an old "T" shirt or
similar. Do that and you can freeze your posterior off. Don't do it and you
are in Death Valley. In fact, the exhaust air is an excellent clothes dryer
and might do damage to some plastics.

If you have difficulty getting your installed A/C units fixed (leaks) this
Sharp is an affordable stop-gap measure. Anyhow, George the Golden Retriever
is very happy and not panting - mostly.
