I agree with Vesa, I think having a separate tempo track will surely have
benefits.

comparison but best I can think of). Think of it as a backwards compat
drag-and-drop of tempo control. Dragging it to Automation would in turn
cause that automation track to switch to a tempo automation track.

dragable but we would get the end result of an isolated tempo automation

to another automation track? Will the existing tempo track be deleted? Will
the tracks be merged to one? What happens to any other (non-tempo)
automation on that ex-automation track? I'm sorry, it just seems more
trouble than it's worth, to me...

tempo track, creating a tempo automation is as simple as clicking the tempo
track on an empty spot, and the created pattern would automatically already
be connected to tempo (since any pattern on tempo track can only be
connected to tempo, there's no reason not to create them pre-connected).

doing things, to make room for new, improved functionality. People will
complain, sure - because some people will *always* complain about *any*
change, no matter what it is. There were people who complained about the
new default theme. There will be people who will complain about the new fx
mixer. No matter what the change is, someone IS going to complain, with
100% certainty, no matter how good a change is, there's always at least one
person who thinks it ruins everything forever...
