Well firstly, the different loop points for start/end has already been
implemented in master.

Secondly, your idea, as far as I understand it, is to play the
sampletrack from the start, and when we come to the loop points, record
it into a "virtual sampletrack"... presumably so that this can then be
used to help you play the sampletrack as the background when you're
working on a pattern in piano roll.

Well, the problem with this is, that the implementation it would require
would be just about as complex as the changes required for implementing
sampletrack functionality properly. Even if it could be done in somewhat
slightly simpler means, it would still be far too complex to start
implementing now for 1.1. The feature freeze is on and we just have to
accept that... we have enough "major" features for this release. (Major
in the sense of complexity, not in the sense of how useful they are.)

So we'd have to postpone this for 1.2, and since we can just work on the
full sampletrack implementation for 1.2 in any case, it makes no sense
to do this stopgap measure, because we can just go for the full prize
all at once.
