If you don't need to do any MIDI communication in or out of LMMS, I'd  
suggest ALSA out to the "default" device from LMMS and then in to PA.  
It has a bit of latency, but it doesn't matter that much if you're  
only sequencing things. That's been the path of least resistance on my  
system, and fairly bulletproof.
