Great idea guys,

the reason I stopped contributing with new patches to log4php is the pain I had with svn. Git is great vcs for open-source projects (I use it for 2 years already), and with expansion of github many people got used to working with it. It's so simple that event pure beginners manage to work with it within a few minutes.
If you move to git, I would be happy to increase my activity on log4php.

Thank you

Does this mean that we can use git and svn in parallel, or once we

Good question... but I think moving to git does mean svn is history.
Looking at CouchDB, which has moved before a while:
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/couchdb/
It seems they are not using svn for development anymore, just for the
site. But not sure. i will need to ask.

Is this a blocker for you?

Well, I'm not sure. Considering that I'm not proficient with git, I wouldn't
like to burn my bridges. But moving to git will be a good opportunity to
learn. You learn best when you have no other option. :) What do you think?
In my rock'n'roll days we often said: "No pain, no gain" :-)
Thousands other people have managed git, why shouldn't we?

But hey, if you don't want to slow down with development we are always
free to work with the git mirrors first (and feed our svn with
patches)

Cheers

Ivan
