Peter and all, And now to give another view. I saw the notice that announced the removal of the notice. It happened after the announcement had been used 22,000 times - in a week or a fortnight - I don't recall which period. Now I personally find it staggering that it needed to be used that much in such a short time. appreciate there are legitimate reasons why a bus can run early - unexpectedly quiet roads, over generous schedule etc - but it my experience and from plenty of comments from drivers here and on other groups it is because drivers drive with lead feet and suddenly look at I-Bus and go "oh shit, 8 minutes early. Must stop." (had this on the 123 btw and I could see the I-Bus display). Alternatively some drivers drive far too slowly hoping to be overtaken by the bus behind or all the other games that go on. All the bad driving stuff is inexcusable in my view as a passenger. Why should there be an official announcement that can be played to "cover up" or "explain away" this nonsense? You say it is an useful message - well Tube drivers are told to get on the PA within 30 seconds if the train is going to be "delayed". On the Victoria Line this translates into an apology at every damn timing point because the schedule is so damn slack trains wait 1-2 minutes at every point. This ends up delaying me and annoying me because I am being told about something that is completely unnecessary. When things really have gone wrong we get told next to nothing in comparison to the false apologies for unnecessary delays. Repeated use of the I-Bus message is just the bus version of a Tube nonsense - and I have complained to the Vic Line GM about the announcements and the slack schedule to no avail. I'm glad the bus message has gone. Paul Corfield -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "London Bus Scene" group.
