Taxis/minicabs round this way are hardly elitist. They are a necessary 
alternative to buses and serve many parts of town where buses don't go.

  I don't know if you are a driver or not, but it is those with your
  attitude that piss people off. Now how about those, a sizeable chunk
  of bus users who do not have the money for either taxis or private
  hire, that do have to rely on public transport. Should they start out
  early and walk perhaps??? I think agree with Paul sentiments, Taxis
  are public transport, but I do not really count them as such as they
  are mostly elitist.
