I was wondering whether this sort of information once electronic
ever truly dies.

Anything that was once broadcast must be travelling out into space
and maybe the radio waves are still detectable.

Twenty light years from here Little Green Men in anoracks are probably
trading MPG warez of "lost" Dr Who and Monty Python.
