yup all the audio stuff went through our dubbing suites about ohh .. 4
years ago ISTR .. originally taped on 4 track 1/4" at 1.75 inch/sec ...
and the sound was taken directly from the TV ... which if you know the
meaning of 'valves' and 'direct EHT' (which resulted in the tv chassis
being at mains potential ) then thats a pretty scary thought

as far as i know a fair bit *did* go .. but I could be wrong ..I'll check
with mr source of knowledge ...

yeah .. I know steve a little. When he had to get rid of one of his
beloved telecines ( a Rank Cintel Mk 111 Digiscan ) from london, we had
it up in B'ham and he came up and put it together for us over a week or
so .. I was the main guy who kept it running so spent many hours on
the phone to steve sorting bits out. In the end we let it go to our
training place, cos we were running out of 4116 memory chips for the
frame store! .. but yeah Steve is a good mate of Mr vanezis and between
them they seem to run the entire dr Who thing .. and several other bits
too. I should add that its neither of their jobs either .. they do it as
and when they can fit it in ... and sometimes inspite of the system

trust me .. you only heard the good bits .. it was every bit as bad as a
bad thing, and at times worse. ... I miss the people though, cos the BBC
has/had some stunningly talented people .. trouble is the most talented
tend to be a little 'off the wall' or 'odd' and in a beeb that now has
its corporate head so far up its corporate arse as it can no longer see
where its going they where the first up against the wall when the
revolution came. Greg Dyke is sorting it out at last .. getting rid of
some of the serious idiocy that had come to pass .. sadly too late to
save the studios at pebble mill .. but there you go.
