Seeing as this has deviated wildly from my originaly request.... :-)
Sawfish (nee Sawmill) is indeed lovely, doubly so if you don't install all the
GNOME stuff. It's neat, seems quite quick and does what it sets out to do. The
fact that it is developed by someone from Warwick University is a bonus, means
he might be coaxed into attending a meeting of some kind to give a talk. When
we were thinking of using Warwick to hold a FreeBSD meeting, he was high on our
list :-)
Currently both Nat and I are playing with flwm which got a good write up in a
recent issue of Linux Format and and as it comes in at only 60K of source was
worth a go. Of course the toolkit it uses, fltk, weighs in at slightly more :-(
But at the end of the day it comes down to what you are most confortable with
and what works for you. If I was building a linux or Freebsd desktop for say
my parents, I'd probably install KDE as it would likely scare them the least.
For those interested the laptop now has a minimalist install of RH6.2 on it.
Neil.
