this subject it is a strange meme zoo.
there's the meme that says QWERTY keyboards are designed to slow down the typists to stop them from breaking mechanical typewriters. a different flavour is that QWERTY keyboards are designed around more general limitations of a mechanical typewriter. this meme supports the Dvorak keybaord as being faster. then there's the counter meme that says that that meme is a false meme, that tests have proven that dvorak keyboards are proven slower than QWERTY keyboards. then there's the counter counter meme that says that the counter-meme is false, that the test in question was badly executed because the dvorak typists weren't given time to adjust to the new layout. i think there's something in there about some political aims to rubbish mr dvorak. anyway, given a couple of minutes with the Dvorak layout it's obvious that: a) dvorak is far better for speed and for RSI, due to more alternation between left and right hand, and common letters being more easily accessible b) all the same, it takes considerable time+effort to switch from QWERTY to dvorak. alex -- I'm talking about FORM.
