The industry has seen a dramatic shift over the years across the board from
compute mega blade servers to bare metal and cloud native container based
architectures and networking industry has seen a shift from mega routers
and switches to distributed smaller form factor wider blast radius boxes
eliminating the all eggs in one or two big baskets yielding as well much
lower CAPEX. We have seen across all networks from data center to core
network to dwdm transport.

What Robert mentioned is quite relevant across the board and how power
groups would apply to 1-RU pizza boxes. Also in a distributed pizza box
model the overall power consumption is already much lower. Also the
simplicity of the pizza box the electronics is minimal and the main power
draw is just the ASIC. As mentioned my Robert all you can do is turn off
SFP laser.

With the larger chassis you have LC with modular adapters and cage
structures and mid planes with fabric layer expansion resulting in
tremendous power draw as compared to 1-RU pizza boxes. The transition is
still happening and the big chassis are on their way out.
