This is exactly how I did it, and it worked fine.

In my case, I need rw because I build terminals out of donated systems 
and monitors.  Each setup is different, and the best way to configure X 
on them is to run a script like XF86Setup at the terminal, save the 
generated XF86Config file on the mounted nfs, and then add a line in 
lts.conf telling X to use that file for start_ws.

Kind of a hack, but it works.  The only other way I thought of to do 
this was to scp it back to the server, but that level of security is 
unnecesary, and it would have been more work.  Anyone have a better way 
to do this?

Once I get the fine points of the system hammered out, I'll tarball the 
whole thing up, and post it for anyone else who wants to do such a thing.
