I had have the same Problems.
1. Try tftp on the local server!
if it isn't working download the latest version of tftpd and compile it by
yourself. After starting as a daemon with /sbin/tftpd -s [whatever] i guess
it will work.

I'm running Mandrake 8.2 and it works well!!!
