In Netstation scripts if there is no hostname defined it is set to the the mac 
address, and this hostname is used to get specific config for each terminal. This is 
usefull in environments where you have no control over the dhcp server to set fixed 
IPs. There are similar patches for LTSP but i don't remeber where they are.
