there are two seperate questions here, the answer is yes to both.

1. you can use the rdesktop to log in directly to windows TSE, i did this at
my old job in order to 'not' use citrix like I originally thought i had to.

2. you could setup an autologin for each person.  i don't know if this would
work for roaming accounts but its possible.

i do have one question though, are you using the linux tsp as a basis for
your office applications and such, and the windows tse as a os for some
windows specific application?  At my old job that was the case, and it
seemed to work fine, however I think that after I left they scrapped the
whole thing and are now operating as individual workstations, each running
windows and still using a terminal server for a DOS application.  quite
pathetic really. oh well
