Thanks for all your responses. 1) There is no /etc/securetty in lstp, no help there.
2) I did find the MIN UID and MIN GID fields for NIS. They were 500, I set them to 0. I rebooted ypserv. No change. I can enter root as the userid, but the root password on the server is not accepted. 3) I copied the su program into the root file directory. I cannot su after logging in as a normal user and su to root. The password is not accepted. Other ideas?
