Well... there is a checksum in the BIOS of the T1510 that checks the
kernel being loaded via tftp. So I managed to get compaq to come off of
an iso image of the original disk that came with the T1510, which has the
necessary kernel on it(2.0.35). I found a HOWTO on the T1500, very
similar, and the guy said that he matched the checksum with a different kernel, but it
still would not boot. Tagging, perhaps. Anyhow, the T1510 will now
download the original kernel from the compaq install disk, but refuses to
do the nfs for the root filesystem. From tcpdump and ngrep output it
looks like there is an arp lookup happening... 6 queries for the mac of
the T1510. Then it hangs. The T1500 HOWTO says cycle local/network boot
at this point, and all is well, describing similar symptoms, but the
keybinding that is supposed to be active in the boot sequence to performs
this does not work.

I have 11 of them.

I would like to get them running X sessions over the network, so I can
unload 10 of them in a functional state, with a server and install disk,
to someone or other and reinvest in some more HDS Viewstations, which I found
a boatload of for $9 each if you wait for the free shipping special from the
supplier.

Thanx,
Scott
