Yup, this is the standard method for MythTV. One or more backend servers with TV-cards and several front end clients, it is possible to run both the front and backends on the same server but not recommended. > > There are > > several very good thin network booting solutions designed for MythTV. > > I've used a couple of them but I think the one closest to what it > > sounds like you are after is MiniMyth (http://www.linpvr.org). Support for the DVD player is planned soon though. Personally for my setup here (1 server, 4 thin frontends) I don't need the DVD portion since if I am going to watch a DVD, I'm damn well gonna use my expensive surround system =) On the other hand, I'm a big supporter of the "because its there!" reasoning. If you need anything tested, I have a pretty good test lab with a whole range of different clients and servers. You might also want to look at the windows client for MythTV, gives another option for running frontends on clients who must use that OS. - -- /Anthony Whitehead Unix Sysadmin PGP Key: http://www.solace.mh.se/~ant/ant.pubkey 1024D/1963012A 49C3 A871 43A8 B912 12D2 046E 8FCC 6062 1963 012A - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFA1qh4j8xgYhljASoRAiNhAKCuc3/BecNprEW3rOM43rrd5diLOQCffjTV 8zWosV81ezpohHX93Khs4wk= =ZxuQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by The 2004 JavaOne(SM) Conference Learn from the experts at JavaOne(SM), Sun's Worldwide Java Developer Conference, June 28 - July 1 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA REGISTER AND SAVE! http://java.sun.com/javaone/sf Priority Code NWMGYKND _____________________________________________________________________ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
