Some people use FreeNX for this. Not really something that has to do with LTSP.
I played around with Xming (xserver for windows) + SSH tunnel to reach
a desktop / specific applications from a Linux desktop.

Yes try to run the software with wine or crossover (similar product).
Otherwise you need a windows desktop/server for that...
