True can put a PC for some operation thats why am looking at a manufacure like Imagestream as like  Skystream in  DVB devices.I see that Imagestream is a threat to Cisco having add ons the network giant might not integratein the next decade :-)

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

There was a whole thread discussed on this very issue on the
NANOG a few days ago. You can scan the archives for:

Zebra/linux device production networking?

But to sum it up, PC-based routers are more expensive to maintain
in the long-run (in terms of time), and have limited support for
basic Layer 2/3 functionalities, e.g., 802.1q, BGP, OSPF, e.t.c.

Normally, smaller operations can justify PC-based routers, but
larger ones may have a problem as the complexity required to
manage them doesn't off-set the perceived cost reductions.

Mark.
