Thanx for all the resonses (both on- as well as off list)

Currently i am following the IP-filtering path, not yet the limi-apache-path.
I reckon, if i limit the connections to coming from Uganda only, bandwith
will not be a real issue after that :-(

I know have 2 source, Maxmind and afrinic. And i decided to compare the 2. I
downloaded the Maxmind .cvs version, and loaded it in my Calc. That only
works for the first 65000 or so lines, so the data is not complete.
But, we can start drawing some conclusions.

I posted the list of afrinic IP's before, and one of the subnets they assign
to uganda is 41.220.0.0. Now, if you filter Maxmind on this subnet you get:

That is different, to say the least.

I am missing 2 2 sources, still. Am still googling for an opencource
country2IP list, which i have stumbled upon before. And the second list is
the routing tables in the MTN/UTL/Datanet/Infocom/AfricaOnline/UIXP routers
that decide which traffic goes up the satelite, and which traffic stays here.

I think that combining these last 2, we would enable all web-developers in the
country (remember, those guys are in a different OSI layer than you live), to
optimize their visitors experience a lot. I could sit down to do that
privately with my own ISP, but I reckon it is much more benificial to share
that info.

And did someone mention the UIXP mailing list?
