Sorry to jump in late, but I just realized this thread is relevant to 
me. Would the new switcher be able to specify a config equivalent to the 
following or would I require the "don't reset" option to make it work?

setxkbmap -variant altgr-intl -option -option lv3:ralt_switch -option 
compose:rctrl -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bkspc -option eurosign:e 
-option nbsp:level3n

As is, that's what I run via ~/.config/autostart/setxkbmap.desktop
