Well, for what I know, one uses "when" in case of things that are certain
to happen, and "if" in case of things that are not certain to happen.
But, in the case where "if" means "whenever", "when" and "if" are
interchangeable. See, for example,

This is the case you are referring to, so there are no grammar errors
(according to your meaning of grammar error), AFAICS.
