Redraws are not too important here as they are (normally) faster then the
user interaction. The redraw is important in the case of typing characters
as that should really be a bit faster! But I have the problem that some
operations on tabulars HAVE to be done alone and CANNOT be done in sum with
others (one important is setting multicolumn cells!) so maybe we could leave
it as it is :)
