Right. The good old note inset. > Maybe an alternative name could be: "Internal note" We just changed all names. But there are pretty clear tooltips in both frontends. > * Comment - Hmm, I noticed that this gets exported to latex as > \begin{comment} - \end{comment}. We used to have the comment environment, which had the disadvantage that it was only able to contain standard text. The inset is much more powerful. > If I write the following in the preamble > \usepackage{comment} > \includecomment{comment} > these comments appear in the output. > With the comment package, this seems more like a conditional output... > I guess I don't really understand what this is for (unless it's an > interface to the comment package). Well, the reason is that if you want to export your document to LaTeX (or Docbook or Linuxdoc), your comments will be exported too. As the tooltip says: "export to LaTeX/Docbook but don't print". > * Greyed Out - Something that will marked in a special way (greyed out) > in the output... this is probably where "real" comments should go, i.e. > small remarks such as "check this reference...". Yes. IMO it's a primarly "draft" tool for printing editor's comments. We recently changed it to a real environment, so if you like, you can change it's appearance be \renewenvironment{lyxgreyedout}{\sffamily\bfseries\normalcolor}{} or whatever. Juergen.
