Indeed, things work so much more smoothly when the seller charges the GST 
at the time of the sale. Several years ago, I ordered hardware from 
MacZone, and I was shocked when the package arrive =overnight=, and with 
no additional charges, all because they charged the GST up front. Same 
thing happened on another order. I wish all larger US dealers did this!

OTOH, I did run into a bit of a snag with a book seller who insisted on 
charging 15% GST on books, because I live in Nova Scotia, even though 
books are exempt from the extra 8%.
