Hi listers. My sister, a computer user of about five years and reared on Windows, has been taking a web marketing and site design course. She is looking to get a new computer in the near future, and of course, I have been trying to swing her over to the Mac. Among many other things, I plugged the fact that she can test her web pages on pretty well any OS, thanks to Virtual PC (not to mention Mac OS X and it's UNIX underpinnings). I sent her an introductory email with several links for her to get informed on the Mac OS. She seems interested, however, her teacher still suggested Windows OS, as her teacher said that "some of the students using Macs are having a lot of problems", whatever that means. I told her that Macs are VERY present in web development businesses. It's an online correspondence course, so I don't know if the "problems" are from particular software that is used for the course (I don't even know what software MS sells for such tasks, but I assume it's not available for Mac OS), a result of some incompatibility with Apple's JAVA... Or what... Or just plain bias on the teacher's part.
What I'm looking to the group for is any insights, suggestions, or better yet, any people who REALLY know both platforms and can offer real world insights for comparing Windows and Macs OS applications for web development.
