I think this must often be the case Amber. For example the book from my
friends design coure that I've borrowed is aimed at Windows users, not
computer users, despite refering to "other platforms" and other browsers
besides IE and NS. The references to digital materials that someone
actually _taking_the_course_ assumes they reside on your windows pc.
I'm finding it useful only because while working at my own pace I can
glean the ideas and code for my own little project. I would hate to try to
use it in a class room (real or virtual) situation on my Mac- not because
the Mac couldn't perform, but because of the "language" problems
communicating with the instructor and students, and it is this interaction
I believe, that makes paying for a course, as opposed to self-teaching
worthwhile.
BUT, being the one in class with a mac, might let one work closely with
the instructor to improve the course for everyone.
