The solution is switch to anything BUT Rogers. I've heard so many negative
things about their high speed service from so many customers, I'm surprised
that they're still in the high speed business. I'm using Sympatico and it
works great (knock on wood). I believe it has only been down twice (and at
most for only several hours) in the past 4 years that I've been using it.

What did Rogers tell your friend regarding OS X support? If they told him
there isn't any then forget it, go with someone else. OS X shouldn't have
any problems connecting to ADSL. The Network should be set to ethernet and
PPPoE if the high speed modem is directly connected to the computer. If
you're using a router with the modem then you should have it set to ethernet
and DHCP only (not PPPoE).
