I recently acquired a complete kit of the Apple 12" 166mhz DOS card, complete with all the cables (inc. the fabled dongle) and software, including the hacked version of the DOS compatibility software (v 2.1.7 written by someone whose name escapes me). Also, a colleague with the handle "Mad Dog" has this web link <http://www.november1981.jmug.org/> (though I think his server is down at the moment) that explains install procedures. My question:
My goal is to slap the card into a beige G3 desktop running at least OS 8.6, with the DOS card running, I hope, WIN 98(se). Is this do-able? The writer of the hack seems to think so, but no one ever explains how to get the OS bumped up from OS 8.1 while retaining the hacked PC DOS extensions. Any thoughts? Experiences to share?
