I don't know what kind of setup HP has with the JetDirect, but the Lexmark
uses proprietary software to connect to the print server via tcp/ip.  I'm
sure you can also connect by creating a tcp/ip printer port on the PC, but I
didn't have much luck with that option.  I hate having to install 3rd party
software to do something that should be native to the OS, but like you, I
was tired of messing around with it.
