Just read an interview with the developer you mentioned that they hired to
come in and get things moving for FireFox on the Mac.

His comments were that he still works on Camino but the others on the
project have taken over and he is concentrating on Firefox / Thunderbird. He
also mentions that he personally finds the user interface better in Camino
and that no other browser (for OS X) starts and renders quicker than Camino.
But admits that the feature set is better with FireFox.
