and I'm glad to announce Shaun McDonald is the new Mac OS X project Lead.
?

Yes, you read correctly : I proposed Shaun, and he accepted to replace me.

As I already said on releases:
1. Mac port is not a project. It is a subproject of the development project
(porting).

You exagerate: we are a sub-sub-sub project, lost in the diagramm. Maybe we don't exist at all !

2. even if it is, the usual way is to vote on candidates, if they agree to be candidates..

Well, I'm wondering why you contest what I have seen several times on project_leads list.

1) I proposed Shaun in private, he agreed.

2) I just did *exactly* what John McCreesh did when he presented Florian Effenberger, on project leads list.

As example, a copy paste of the mail John wrote the 01.07.2007 11:24 (proposing Florian Effenberger )

"... I am pleased to announce that Florian has agreed to help out as co-lead
of the Marketing Project. Florian once admitted to having been a
StarOffice Certified User ;-) Since progressing on to OOo he has been a
very effective MarCon for Germany for the past couple of years, and has
been a great help to me on the mailing lists.
I'm delighted that he has accepted the role. ... "

3) other leads voted, and approved my proposal.

So why is such process accepted for Marketing "project", and why it is not for Mac OS X porting project ?

No doubt for me, Shaun is legally the new Mac OS X Lead.

I already discussed my vision of the Mac port with Shaun, here are my

Let Shaun propose, and we'll see.

End of Topic for me, and welcome to Shaun
