But arguing against that in this special case may easily damage Shauns standing too.
I thought about this very deeply before I started to ask questions... I was even talking about the vision with Shaun before (on IRC). I do not think it could hurt Shaun.
At the end, clearing the "air", bringing the communication style back to normal project communication like in other OOo projects and correct vote for Shaun (Shaun: you'll have my +1 as well!) will make its position even stronger!!!
