Greg,

Until you are able to resolve the problem, I suggest using a simple  
work-around:
- use the blank/empty page option
- enter the desired address in a Safari window and d/l the page
- add a bookmark in the [Bookmarks... > Bookmark Bar] for your  
desired home page
- now, when you want it, your home page will be only one click away
