Let me clarify something about the Consumer Reports ratings. Actually all of the laptops, both PC and MAC, have about the same reliability for repairs. According to Consumer Reports a point difference of 3 points is not significant. All of the units scored between 20 and 23, so they are basically all having the same problems as far as reliability.
I am sure one reason the laptop has more problems is because of its mobile nature and the stress it can be put under. Apple desktop models win hands down as far as reliability compared to all others. I suspect the motherboard issue in the Macbooks really brought the scores down for Apple as the numbers represent service from 2003 to 2007.
