A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Cannon 8800F from MacAuthority

of Omni Page, Adobe Photoshop Elements and Photo Studio. It works
with a removable white pad back, which snaps off for film holders and
vice versa. The film holders are pretty fragile looking, but I
haven't broken them yet, even though I am pretty clumsy. All in all,
I like it better than the HP I was previously using,

Thanks, but it appears the 8800F cannot be networked and has no sheet feeder. Both of these features are requirements of my project.

It seems I should be looking at the all-in-one devices with print and scan. Many of those are networkable, and the equivalent scanner from the same company costs almost the same. I have a Brother 7820N at home with print+scan+fax that scans quite well on my network.
