With an iPhone you can restore from the last back up when you plugged your
iPhone into iTunes.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
So this would be the last state your phone was in as far as software and the
like.
Here is what is backed up:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766

Now you can choose to restore to a factory default that will put the iPhone
back to the original factory settings.
Which is discussed on the HT1414 link.

I sometimes have a program that act's up example this last time it was
Netnewswire for the iPhone.
Now other than Mail this is my most used app. It did the crash and launch act
on me. So I deleted it on the iPhone then
Hooked up to iTunes when I came home and put it back on the iPhone from there
then did an update to make sure the latest version was on the iPhone.

Ed, i am always a bit jittery when I hear the word "restore", or when I am
asked whether I want to restore something. There comes the question : restore
to what? to its pristine beauty? Or to what the thing was like before it lost
it, whatever that was.

Halfof the time in the middle of an action, the computer asks me whether I want
to do a certain thing, and I have no idea what that might be. I usually go
ahead, hoping that the group would help out if all hell broke loose. But it is
annoying to sit there wondering what my friendly computer actually wants from
me.

I suppose you back your phone up. Is it backed up on a mac or pc? It
could be as easy as a hard start. If not restore it from iTunes.

Ben I would do a restore of your iPhone from iTunes.
You will see it on the first tab of your iPhone when you plug it in
and it loads on iTunes.
I have had app's crash on startup and I deleted them then restored
them from iTunes to fix the problem.
But with Mail on the phone along with the other basic iPhone app's
you can not delete the app's.
So Try a restore of your iPhone.

for the last five or six days my iphone 3G has been able to

off the various accounts and shutting down and restarting the
phone. Nothing helps. everything else seems to be working fine and
the signal seems strong. I didn't find the apple website helpful
with this and would appreciate any suggestions--Thanks--Ben Zion
